Foster Grandparents spend twenty hours per week nurturing and supporting children with a variety of needs.   Building self esteem and self confidence, foster grandparents work with learning disabled children, young children in preschool, or children unable to function in a typical school environment.

Volunteers may serve children at schools, hospitals, child welfare agencies, schools for exceptional children, Head Starts, or at juvenile treatment facilities.

Foster Grandparents must be at least 60 years old, low income, no longer in the regular work force, willing to work 20 hours per week, and capable of serving exceptional or special needs children.

Foster Grandparents receive a stipend and travel reimbursement.   Other benefits include on-going training, formal recognition, an opportunity to maintain involvement in their community, the chance to make a difference in a child's life, and lots of love from their foster grandchildren.
