Senior Centers, Inc. is located at 2308 Jefferson Ave. (the corner of 23rd Street and Jefferson Ave.).

The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m., with special community activities and events planned in the evening and weekends.

Staffing

bullet

Staff The staff of Senior Centers, Inc. consists of an Executive Director, a Program Director, an Outreach/Service Coordinator, several in-home housekeepers, a Receptionist, a Janitor and a contractual accountant.

Senior Centers, Inc. serves as the sponsoring agency for the Foster Grandparent Program which is run by a Program Director.

Senior Centers, Inc. also coordinates the Transportation Services for Seniors Program for Lucas County. This program is staffed by a Transportation Director and an Assistant.

Senior Centers, Inc. serves as a host agency to the Green Thumb Program which trains and employs senior citizens over the age of 55 and places them in community agencies. Senior Centers, Inc. accepts several enrollees from this employment program. Also, many volunteers from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program help to supplement the staff. Most RSVP volunteers are recruited from within our center.

Board of Directors

The Governing Board of Directors is the policy making body for Senior Centers, Inc., consisting of between 8-12 members.

The Board of Directors meets once a month for a general meeting. The Board also holds various committee meetings as needed.

bullet

Committees of the Board include: Executive, Personnel, Program Development, Finance, Nominating, Fundraising and Foster Grandparent Advisory.

Funding

bullet

Senior Centers, Inc. is supported by federal grants from the Older Americans Act (Ohio Department on Aging) and the Senior Services Levy in Lucas County. The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio serves as the pass through agency for these grants.

The Foster Grandparent Program is funded by The Corporation for National and Community Service (a federal funding agency for volunteer programs, state block grant funds for volunteer programs and the Lucas County Senior Services Levy.

Transportation Services to Seniors is funded through a block grant from the Ohio Department on Aging specifically for transportation.
